Student Paper Awards

In addition to academics, professional experts and practitioners, the 2021 International Conference on Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE 2021) will be attended by students who are potential contributors in the field. We would like to recognize their contributions to the open and innovative education.

The following information applies to the Student Paper Awards

    1.  One Best Student Paper Award will be presented to the author(s) of the best student paper at ICOIE 2021.
    2.  Authors of other outstanding student papers may be presented an Excellent Student Paper Award.
    3. The author of paper must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to compete for the Best Student Paper Award/Excellent Student Paper Award.
        • The author must be a full-time student who is pursuing a postgraduate programme at a recognized academic institution.
        • The author must be the first author (and also the corresponding author) of a paper accepted for presentation at ICOIE 2021.
        • The author must have contributed to at least 80% for the paper.
        • The author must present the paper at the assigned paper session of ICOIE 2021.
    4. The paper must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to compete for the Best Student Paper Award/Excellent Student Paper Award.
      • The paper should have a good potential to make a significant contribution to open and/or innovative education, and should be well written.
      • The paper has not been submitted for publication or has been accepted for publication elsewhere.
      • The author(s) must present the paper at the assigned paper session of ICOIE 2021.
    5. A selection panel for the awards will be established by the Organizing Committee of ICOIE 2021. This panel will consist of experts from the field.
    6. Each paper being considered for the awards will be first evaluated by the Programme Committee of ICOIE 2021 and then by the Selection Panel of the Award.
    7.  The evaluation criteria are:
      • The paper (75%)
        • Significance: The potential contribution of the paper to the field with an emphasis on theoretical development and/or educational practices.
        • Methodology: The extent to which the methods and approach are appropriate.
        • Originality: The extent to which the paper is innovative in terms of its sources of information, design, analysis and/or discussion approach.
      • Oral presentation (25%)
        • The quality of the presentation in terms of the content and effectiveness.
    8. The winner will receive a certificate.
    9. The winning author(s) may be invited to extend their papers and submit them for publication in an edited book or a special issue of refereed journals.
